Stacking the Shelves (31)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Once again, it has been a while since I've done a Stacking the Shelves. The last few weeks have been a little hectic with my graduation from university, family visiting me, me visiting family and work throughout all of that. But I am finally back to posting semi-regularly and so I thought I would share the books I have gotten in the last few weeks.

Review:

- The Golden Day by Ursula Dubosarsky - The Golden Day caught by attention when I saw it in the Candlewick catalogue and it sounded like something that I would really enjoy. It also sounds quite different so I'm really looking forward to reading it soon.

- Juvie by Steve Watkins - I am always looking for good contemporary stories that deal with some tougher subjects, so I was excited when I first heard about Juvie. And having now found out more about the book, I can't wait to read it.

- Anywhere But Here by Tanya Lloyd Kyi - I only first heard about Anywhere But Here this past week, but all I really need to know to get excited about it was that it's contemporary. But beyond that, this sounds like a great contemp story and it has a male protagonist so I'm really looking forward to it.

- The Great & Calamitous Tale of Johan Thoms by Ian Thornton - This one is an adult historical title, but sounds really interesting. Plus I love anything to do with the period around the World Wars so I am definitely looking forward to reading this one.

- Belladonna by Fiona Paul (not pictured) - I loved Venom when I read it last fall so I can't wait to read Belladonna. It doesn't hurt that I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I will be reading this one soon.

Thank you to Candlewick Press, Simon & Schuster Canada and Penguin Canada for sending me these books for review!

Purchased:

- Losing It by Cora Carmack - Everywhere I turn, everyone is talking about this book so I figured I would give it a try. And I started reading it and the next thing I knew, I was halfway through. So that's to say that so far it lives up to what everyone has been saying and I haven't been disappointed yet.

- Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer - So far, I have loved the other books in this series. There is just something about these books that captures my attention so I can't wait to read the next installment.

- Dance of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin - I finally got around to reading Masque of the Red Death since I had to read it for my book club and now I can't wait to find out what happened next. So picking up a copy of the sequel seemed like a good idea.

So these are the books I have gotten in the last few weeks. Be sure to keep checking back in this week and next as I get back to posting regularly because even though I haven't been posting, I have been getting a lot of reading done.

Also, Google Reader/Google Friend Connect is going away starting July 1st. If you want to keep following, be sure to check out my sidebar for other ways you can follow this blog.

Stacking the Shelves (30) - BEA Edition!

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

So I've kind of been a bad blogger the past couple of weeks...but I have an excuse! You see, I was in NYC for Book Expo America and that pretty much had all my attention. And then I got back this week and had to go back to work and recover so the blog was a little neglected. But on the plus side, I now have A LOT of reading material. Because not only did I come back from BEA with a lot more books than I thought I would, but there were also some waiting for me at home when I got back. Be warned, there are A LOT of books in this post.

Non-BEA books:

- Creeps by Darren Hynes
- Not Your Ordinary Wolf Girl by Emily Pohl-Weary
- Confederates Don't Wear Couture by Stephanie Kate Strohm
- The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
- To Be Perfectly Honest by Sonya Sones
- When You Were Here by Daisy Whitney
- In Too Deep by Coert Vorhees
- Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin

Thank you to Penguin Canada, Thomas Allen & Sons, and HBG Canada for sending me these books for review.

BEA Books

I'm not going to list all the books in this picture because that might be a little more than I can handle right now. But here are a few that I'm particularly excited about:

- How To Love by Katie Cotugno (I've read this one already and it was absolutely amazing. EVERYONE needs to read this book.)
- Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles (I've also already read this one and loved it. It was as awesome as I thought it would be.)
- The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
- Fire with Fire by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian
- This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
- All the Truth That's In Me by Julie Berry

...And basically every other book in this picture. But seriously, BEA was an amazing experience beyond all the exciting books. If you ever get a chance to go, you should seriously take it.

So that's all for me this week. Hopefully I should be back to posting regularly this week, but I don't promise anything since this week is also my university graduation so it's sure to be busy. If you entered any of my Starcrossed Week giveaways, keep an eye on your e-mail in the coming days as I will be contacting the winners.

Other than that, enjoy your week & happy reading!

Stacking the Shelves (29)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

It was quite the busy week at my mailbox this week. Some books I won showed up as did a few books for review. At least I haven't been buying to many books lately so my TBR pile isn't growing too much, which is a good thing with BEA coming up in two weeks. So here's what I got this week.

Review:
- How I Lost You by Janet Gurtler
- Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick
- Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg

Thank you to Raincoast Books and Scholastic Canada for sending me these books for review.

Won:
- Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen
- The Goddess Inheritance by Aimee Carter
- The Goddess Legacy by Aimee Carter
- Covet by Melissa Darnell
- The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

Thank you to HarlequinTeen and Teen Librarian's Toolbox for these books.

So these are the books I received this week. Be prepared for a busy couple of weeks here on the blog. I am finally catching up on reviews and on May 20th I will be kicking off a week-long event so be on the lookout for that.

Enjoy your week!

Stacking the Shelves (28)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Being (practically) done with school and only having work is doing wonders for my reading. I've read a decent amount of books in the last week and they were all fantastic so look for my reviews coming up soon. And since I actually have time to buy books again, I may have gone a little crazy at the bookstore and on Amazon. But hey, I've been really good this year, at least until this point. So here's what I got!

Borrowed:

- The Program by Suzanne Young - I haven't really heard too much about it, but the synopsis makes it sound really interesting. But from what Ciara from Lost at Midnight (who kindly lent this to me) said, it sounds like it should be pretty good.

Purchased:

- The Reece Malcom List by Amy Spalding - I have heard so many fantastic things about this book so I'm really looking forward to finally being able to read it. Plus we all know how much I love a good contemporary read.

- Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins - Over the past year, I have heard so many fantastic things about this book that I can't believe I still haven't read it. But since certain people (*cough* Ciara *cough*) are freaking out over the sequel coming out soon, I figured I should probably get myself a copy to read.

- Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger - I've wanted to read this book ever since I first heard about it so I was happy to snag a copy at the bookstore. Now I just hope it won't disappoint me.

- Entice & Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington - I have already read both of these books and loved them so I wanted so gorgeous hardcovers to match my copy of Embrace and look pretty on my shelf.

- Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout - You may have seen my gushing review of this book earlier this week so I just wanted a copy to go with the rest of my Covenant series.

So that's it for me this week. Expect lots of reviews coming up in the next few weeks and even a discussion post or two. And as usual, let me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (27)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

I am one take-home exam short of being done my undergrad degrees which means I can finally get back into blogging regularly. And to make things even better, I got some new books in the mail this week, the majority of which were complete surprises. So without further ado, here's what I got this week!

Review:

- Letting Ana Go by Anonymous - Though I hadn't heard anything about Letting Ana Go before being offered a copy for review, I just know this is going to be a powerful story. Since it comes out in early June, I should be reading this one quite soon.

- Breath by Jackie Morse Kessler - I now officially have all the books in this series so maybe I should get around to reading them. I've heard some mixed reviews for this series, so I'll have to check them out myself. And hey, if I read them I might actually make progress on my Series Catch Up Challenge.

- Dark Triumph by R.L. LaFevers - Despite the amazing reviews I've read for Grave Mercy, I've still to read it even though I've had a copy sitting on my shelves for a year. Again, good thing I'm hosting a Series Catch Up Challenge, it might force me to read some of these.

- Reaper's Legacy by Tim Lebbon - Though I haven't read the first book in this series I've been meaning to give it a shot after having seen a few reviews floating around for it. Having gotten a copy of the second book might just be the push I need.

So those are the books I got this week. Now that I'm just one take home exam short of being done my undergrad you can expect me to start posting regularly again. I have a whole lot of reviews that need to be written because despite not posting, I've been reading a lot. So be sure to keep checking the blog to see what I've thought of my recent reads. And as usual leave me a comment letting me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (26)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

A few new and exciting books this week. Lately I've slowly been playing catch-up with my TBR pile since my last semester of school has been quite busy. But in just over a week I will officially be done with school so I'll have more time to read. But until then, here's what I got this week.

Review:

- The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay - I've heard some amazing things about The Sea of Tranquility so I was happy to accept when I got offered a copy for review. Since it's coming out in early June, I should be reading it quite soon and seeing for myself what all the fuss is about.

- I'm With Stupid by Geoff Herbach - If you haven't already checked out the Felton Reinstein books by Geoff Herbach you are seriously missing out. These are some of the best and funniest contemps I've read in the last year so I can't wait to see how it all comes together in this las one.

- The Savage Blue by Zoraida Cordova - I'm a sucker for mermaid stories and I really enjoyed The Vicious Deep last year. When I read it, it felt like the action was just starting when the book ended so I'm really looking forward to reading The Savage Blue to find out what happens next.

- Of Triton by Anna Banks - Again, mermaid books have a tendency to just drag me in. I absolutely loved Of Poseidon when I read it last year and it ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger so I can't wait to see where Anna Banks takes the story next in Of Triton.

So that's it for me this week. I have just one busy school week ahead of me and then lots of reading time. As usual, leave me a comment letting me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (25)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Since I didn't post last week, this is two weeks' worth of books. Last week was relatively quiet, with only two new books, but this week I got a surprise package, borrowed some books from fellow bloggers and bought a few myself. So here's what I got!

Review:

- The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson - This book was on my radar even though I didn't really know all that much about it. At any rate, I'm excited to pick it up in the near future and see what it's all about.

- Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg - Though I haven't read anything by her myself, I've heard great things about Elizabeth Eulberg and her books. This one sounds like a particularly interesting read based on the synopsis.

- That Time I Joined the Circus by J.J. Howard - Right when I first heard about this book, I knew it sounded like something I would be interested in reading so I can't wait to dive into this one. Be sure to come back this week for a guest post from the author as a part of the blog tour.

- A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty - Jaclyn Moriarty is one of those authors whose books I've been reading since high school. When I heard she had a new book coming out, I was excited so I can't wait to start this one...once I have time that is.

- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey - Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that everyone has been raving about this book. I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten an early copy of it. I'm just 50 pages in and already I'm really liking it.

Thank you to Scholastic Canada and Penguin Canada for sending these books to me!

Borrowed:

- Spellcaster by Claudia Gray - This is where I admit that despite owning many of her books, I have yet to read anything written by Claudia Gray. But I've heard plenty of good things about Spellcaster and it's about witches so I can't wait to read it.

- Tarnish by Katherine Longshore - I am a sucker for anything historical and I loved Gilt when I read it last year so I am excited to read more from Katherine Longshore. Plus Tarnish is about Anne Boleyn so I can't wait to read it.

Purchased:

- Requiem by Lauren Oliver - As much as I love Lauren Oliver and her writing, I had a love-hate relationship with Pandemonium when I read it last year. So I'm scared--actually make that terrified--of reading Requiem because I don't want it to disappoint me. Now i just have to work up the courage of read it.

- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater - People--and by people I mean Ciara from Lost at Midnight--have been telling me to read this book and I still haven't. Since it's the book for my book club next month I figured I should probably get on that.

- Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - Probably the book I have been the most terrified of ever. Not because the story is going to be scary. But because it is guaranteed to break my heart over and over again. I have been warned to have tissues close when I read it. I can't wait...but I'm absolutely terrified all the same.

These are the books I got in the last two weeks. I am definitely very excited about a lot of these and as soon as school I over I plan to dive right in. As usual, leave me a comment letting me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (24)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Things are quite busy for me at the moment, but I'm still finding the time to read. And to make things better, I have lots of new exciting books to read that showed up in the last couple of weeks. Some are books I've been anticipating for a long time, others were pleasant surprises. So without further ado, here's what I got in the last couple of weeks!

Review:

- The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen - Sarah Dessen is easily one of my all time favorite authors and I've loved everything of her's I've read. So you can imagine that I am beyond thrilled to have gotten an early copy of her newest book. Be sure to come back in late May/early June for my review!

- Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike - While I've never read anything by Aprilynne Pike, right when I first heard about Earthbound I knew it was something I was interested in reading. I can't wait until it gets closer to the release date so I can read this one. And be sure to come back in late July for my review!

- The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen - This book was a pleasant surprise. I remembered hearing a lot of good things about the first book in this series but never really picked it up. I have been getting more into fantasy lately so I will be reading this one for sure in the near future.

Thank you to Penguin Canada and Scholastic Canada for sending me these books for review.

Won:

- Starcrossed & Dreamless by Josephine Angelini - If you've been following my blog and my Twitter, it should come as no surprise that I absolutely love these books and any copies of them I get I am quite happy about. And of course if you haven't read this series yet, you should most definitely check it out.

Thank you to Epic Reads for these!

Bought:

- The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen - Since I received the sequel for review, I figured it would probably be a good idea to get myself a copy of the first book.

- Every Never After by Lesley Livingston - I absolutely loved Once Every Never when I read it a couple years ago and I was thrilled when Lesley announced it would be made into a series. I seriously can't wait to dive into this one!

That's it for me this week. Things are quite busy for me at the moment between work and the last month of my undergrad. I am still trying to post as regularly as possible but if a few days go by with nothing happening on the blog, don't be alarmed I'm probably just somewhere getting a handle on all my school work. And as usual, let me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (23)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

These Stacking the Shelves post have become somewhat less frequent for me. I've been really good lately about not going crazy buying books so the only books I've been getting are ones for review. But this might be changing quite soon because there are so many awesome books coming out in the next few weeks that I am just dying to get my hands on. For this week though, I got some very exciting books so keep reading to find out what came for me this week.

Review:

- Goddess by Josephine Angelini - AAAAHHHH!!! There was major squealing and dancing around when I received Goddess this week. This is probably one of my most anticipated books this year and I will be reading it very soon. Major thanks to the lovely Shannon for going above and beyond for getting me this book in preparation for an event I will be running on the blog in May.

- Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland - As you may all know, I love contemporary and Nantucket Blue is one of those contemporary books that caught my eye right away. To top that off I've been hearing nothing but rave reviews of this book so you can bet I am excited to have a copy and to read it soon.

- This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith - Another fantastic-sounding contemporary read (I swear the contemps are making a comeback this year) that I am super excited about. I absolutely loved Jennifer E. Smith's The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight last year so I can't wait to dive in to this one.

Big thanks to HarperCollins Canada (and Shannon!) and HBG Canada for sending me these books for review.

Borrowed:

- The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen - Do I even need to explain why I am beyond excited about this book? It's Sarah Dessen, that's the only explanation that is needed. Sarah Dessen is one of my all time favorite authors so I can't wait to read it. And thank you to the lovely Kathy from A Glass of Wine for lending this to me.

Purchased:

- The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd - I have heard great things about this one and have been meaning to read it. What finally pushed me to get my own copy is that I'm joining a book club and this will be our first read. (Side note: if you're in Ottawa and want to join a YA book club, be sure to check out Lost at Midnight's post all about it!)

So that's it for me this week. Though it wasn't a super busy week, there are some books in there I am absolutely dying to get into...if only I didn't have school and the last month of my undergrad to get through...But as usual leave me a comment letting me know what you got and I'll be sure to check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (22)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Lots of new books this week. Last Sunday, a bunch of us Ottawa bloggers got together for a meet up and the ever wonderful Kathy from A Glass of Wine had arranged for all of us to get goodie bags with fun books from publishers. It was all very exciting. And of course there were some books I just had to buy and others showed up on my doorstep unexpected.

Review:

- True by Hilary Duff - The first two books in this series were surprisingly good so I'm looking forward to see how it all ends.

- Dr. Frankenstein's Daughters by Suzanne Weyn - I honestly hadn't heard until this one until it showed up on my doorstep but it sounds interesting enough.

- The Dead and Buried by Kim Harrington - From what I've heard, this book is really good and I'm looking forward to finally reading something by Kim Harrington.

- The Wrap-Up List by Steven Arntson - Again, never heard of this book, but it sounds really interesting from what I can tell from the summary.

- Delusion by Laura L. Sullivan - I'm going to sound like a broken record but I hadn't heard of this book before either but it kind of intrigues me.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada, Scholastic Canada and Thomas Allen & Sons for sending me these books for review!

Purchased:

- The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead - AAAAAHH! So excited for this one about this one and I'm reading it right now and it's just so good.

- Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter - I have loved the first two books in this series, and let's be honest, I'm just looking forward to reading more about Hale.

- Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins - I've already read this one but now that it's out in paperback I needed a copy to match my copies of Hex Hall  and Demonglass.

From Ottawa Blogger Meet Up:

- Poison by Bridget Zinn - For a long time I wasn't a big fantasy reader, but I've been really getting into the genre lately so I'm excited at the prospect of reading this one.

- Takedown by Allison van Diepen - I haven't read anything yet by Allison van Diepen but this book sounds really interesting. Plus Allison was super nice and joined us for lunch at the meet up.

- Impostor by Susanne Winnacker - I'm a sucker for a story that involves a murder mystery so I'm really excited to read this one. Plus it sounds really different.

- The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope by Rhonda Riley - Not something I would normally pick up, but the description made it sound really interesting, as did Shannon's (from HarperCollins Canada) note inside the book.

- Pretty Girl-13 by Liz Coley - Ever since I first heard about this one I've been wanting to read it so I'm really excited to now have a copy for myself.

- The Loop by Shandy Lawson - A more or less doomed from the start love story? I am there. This book sounds really complex but also like it will just break my heart. I can't wait to read it.

So that's it for me this week. As you are reading this I am on my way to Toronto for the Faze/Breathless Reads Event taking place there on Sunday which should be really exciting. And it's a good thing it's reading week this week, because if you couldn't tell, I have lots of new books to read on my hands.

Stacking the Shelves (21)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

After having gotten no new books last week, I'm back this week with just 2 new books. I'm liking this slower pace because it means I actually have time to get through the books I've been buying and receiving. So here's what I got!

Review:
- Notes from Ghost Town by Kate Ellison - This book sounds so intriguing. It's a murder mystery wrapped up in a ghost story and that just makes me so excited at the prospect of reading this book. Since it comes out later this month, I should get to read it quite soon!

Bought:
- Boundless by Cynthia Hand - While I still have to read Hallowed, I couldn't resist picking up a shiny pink copy of Boundless. I loved Unearthly when I read it two years ago and now that I have the last book, I can read the remaining two books in the series back to back...when I have time...which hopefully is soon.

That's it for me this week. Though I didn't get very many books I did find out about having gotten in to my top 2 choices for post-grad programs so I'm really excited about that too. And as usual, leave me a comment letting me know what you got and I'll come check it out!

Stacking the Shelves (20)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

Not too many new books this week--which is a GOOD thing--but there are some pretty awesome titles in there. I've also been really good about not buying any new books but somehow I have a feelings that's going to be changing in the near future. But without further ado, here are the books I got this week.

Review:

- How (Not) to Find a Boyfriend by Allyson Valentine - This isn't necessarily a book I've hear much about, but when I found it while browsing the Penguin catalog, I just knew that it was a story I was going to love because there is nothing like a contemporary story that sounds like it is filled with humor.

- Invisibility by Andrea Cremer & David Levithan - While I've read plenty by Andrea Cremer, I haven't read anything by David Levithan (I know...) but this story sounds like a great romance that has a lot more going on. Plus I've only heard good things about it so I can't really help but be excited to read it.

- Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout - There was some screaming...and squealing...and dancing around when I opened the envelope containing Apollyon. Because I can't wait to read this book even though I know it will probably break me because that's what the previous book did. And I know I won't be able to wait to read this book.

Thank you to Penguin Canada & Spencer Hill Press for sending these to me!

So those are all the books I got this week. A bit of a slow week but it was also a week that was filled with awesome if you ask me. I once again have a giveaway going on right now for some books by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already. And as usual, leave me a comment letting me know what you got!

Stacking the Shelves (18)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the book they received throughout the week.

So far I am kind of failing at only buying the books on the list I made, though I am still not buying too many so I guess things could be worse. This week I got some books for review, borrowed some from fellow bloggers and bought some at a signing I went to. So without further ado, here's what I got this week.

Review:

- The Lies that Bind by Lisa & Laura Roecker - I really loved The Liar Society when I read it last year so I am looking forward to being able to read the second one. If I'm not mistaken, I will also be a part of the blog tour for this one next month, so be on the lookout for that!

- (You) Set Me On Fire by Mariko Tamaki - I had received an ARC of this book over the summer and have reviewed it already, but at any rate I am happy to have a finished copy to add to my shelves.

- Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl - I still have to read Beautiful Chaos but I am still very excited to now have a gorgeous finished copy of Beautiful Redemption. You can bet that as soon as a I have enough time on my hands, I will be reading this one.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Fire, Penguin Canada & HBG Canada for sending me these books for review.

Borrowed:

- Crewel by Gennifer Albin - This book has been on my radar for quite some time so I was happy when the wonderful Kathy from A Glass of Wine offered to lend me her copy of the book.

Won (at signing):

- All Good Children by Catherine Austen - I'll be honest and say I hadn't heard of this book or of Catherine Austen until the signing I went to this week. But I won a copy of the book and I have to say that the summary has be intrigued.

Purchased:

- Night Runner & End of Days by Max Turner - Again, I hadn't really heard about these books or Max Turner until I went to the signing, but the books sound interesting and it was really great hearing him talk about his books and his writing process.

- Dreamless by Josephine Angelini - I received an ARC of this book earlier this year which I read, reviewed and loved. But I didn't have a gorgeous finished copy to put on my shelf next to Starcrossed, so I couldn't resist picking it up at the bookstore.

That's it for me this week! There won't be a Stacking the Shelves post next week as I will be in Toronto for the Second Annual Ontario Blog Squad Blogger Meet Up. I'm really excited to meet all the bloggers I've only talked to online and of course to the roadtrip with the other Ottawa bloggers.

Stacking the Shelves (17)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga of Tynga's Reviews. It's a weekly post where book bloggers showcase the books they received throughout the week.

This week was pretty busy for my mailbox. I got some pretty awesome books for review, and I bought a few even though they weren't on my "allowed to buy" list. But I just couldn't resist them. And I was lucky enough to borrow an awesome book from a fellow blogger. So all in all, it was a pretty good week for books.  Now if I only had time to read them all that would be great, but school has been absolutely crazy lately. So without further ado, here's what I got this week.

Review:

- The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle - While this one hasn't been on radar, I've been hearing plenty of really good things about it lately. So now that I have a copy of my own, I'm looking forward to reading it.

- Scorch by Gina Damico - I got the first book in this series for review earlier this year, and unfortunately still haven't had the time to read it. I guess now I have to reason to put it off since I now also have the sequel.

- The Suburban Strange by Nathan Kotecki - I haven't heard about this one all that much, but it definitely sounds interesting. Hopefully I will have the chance to read it in the near future.

- Ask the Passengers by A.S. King - While I haven't read anything by A.S. King, I have heard nothing but good things about her books. This one sounds really interesting and I can't wait to read it.

Thank you to Thomas Allen & Sons and HBG Canada for sending these books to me.

Borrowed:

- The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - I am so unbelievably excited about this book, though I'm not entirely sure when I will have the time to read it. But at any rate, huge thank you to Kathy from A Glass of Wine (via Meaghan from Feeling a Little Bookish) for lending me this one.

Purchased:

- The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa - So even though I still have to read The Iron Knight, I just couldn't resist picking this one up when I saw it out early at the bookstore. And now I am just dying to read it. Now if only I had time to read it.

- The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa - Since I was picking up The Lost Prince, I just couldn't resist picking up this one as well since I haven't read any of the Iron Fey novellas.

- This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel - So the author was actually in Ottawa today and I was planning to go to the signing until I drowned under piles of homework. But I have seen nothing but rave reviews of this book so I'm glad to have a copy even if I missed the author.

So that's it for me this week. As usual leave me a comment letting me know what you got so when I take a break from school work I can come check out what books you got this week!
