It's Friday so it means it's time for the Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday!
First off, the Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer of Crazy-for-Books. It is a way for all the book bloggers out there to get together and find out about each other's blogs. I've found a lot of great blogs and bloggers through this hop and it's always fun to take part in each week.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
WHAT IS THE ONE BOOKISH THING YOU WOULD LOVE TO HAVE, NO MATTER THE COST?
This is probably going to be quite similar to a lot of answers but I would love to have one room in my house entirely dedicated to books. My parents sort of have that in the sense that half of one room is covered in bookshelves but now that I'm a student living away from home it's not going to happen any time soon. But you can be sure that one day I will have my own personal library, after all I will need somewhere to put all the books I'll have accumulated over the years.
The Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View each week. It works a lot like the Book Blogger Hop except that it's only on Fridays. I haven't been taking part in this hop as long but I've found a lot of great new blogs through this one too.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:
IF YOU HAVE, OR WOULD HAVE A DAUGHTER, WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU WANT YOUR DAUGHTER TO READ?
This is a pretty hard question to answer, mostly because I'm 19 and not really thinking about kids just yet. If I were to have a daughter in the future, I would definitely want her to read Sarah Dessen's books just because they often have such a great message and they are books that I have absolutely loved. I would probably give her to read a lot of my favorite books just so she could have the pleasure of discovering them too. Other than that there are a few French books that my own mother gave me to read that are quite good for teenage girls. They deal with topics that sometimes can't be explained by parents and this author does a really good job of explaining it all through her narrators. Other than that there are some classics that she of course wouldn't be allowed to miss out on. Now that I think about it, I should start making a list that way I will be ready for the future.
UPDATES:
I mentioned last week that I would be meeting Lesley Livingston. Well I did and it was pretty much awesome. She is a great person and you can find out more about the evening here. The past couple of weeks I seemed to have been in a bit of a reading slump but things have gotten back on track. I finished Linger this week and it was pretty much amazing so expect a review coming soon. Also you have until the end of the weekend to enter my 150 Follower Giveaway. If you haven't already entered, go check it out here.
That's it for this week!
Enjoy your weekends!
Hi Emilie, I'm already a follower, but I'm just stopping by on the hop. Sarah Dessen is one of the most amazing YA writers, and I'd love for my future daughter (I'm only 18 and have no plans of having a baby any time soon LOL) to read her books when she, too, is a teenager :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Sarah Dessens books are so good! Here from the Hop/FF. I'm only 15 and I don't see kids in my near future either so...I'm a new follower:) Hopefully you'll visit my site and read what I have to say too. http://friendlyreaderohyeah.blogspot.com/2010/10/bookbloggerhop-8-and-follow-my-book.html

Hi,
ReplyDeleteJust Hopping by, well I already have 4 kids, the oldest not that much younger than you. I'll have to recommend Sarah Dessen to her!
I'd love to have an entire room for books...but especially if it could have every book I ever wanted in it :-)
ReplyDeleteAn entire room of books, that sounds like an excellent idea (my rooms already halfway there). ^_^
ReplyDeleteHopping by! Agree....wait on the kids bit (for now). I would love my own personal library even though I didn't pick that as my answer.
ReplyDeleteHope you come by and see my answer!
Happy HOP! My bookish wish would be to have my own bookstore. Enjoy your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHope you HOP by for a visit
Hey Emilie! Just stopping by from both hops! You've got a great blog here. Looking forward to reading your posts. New follower!
ReplyDeleteYou and I have similar ideas for our bookish wish. Happy weekend. My bookish wish involves a remodel. Here's what I'd do if I had the time and money.
ReplyDeleteIm a new follower happy friday have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteI love Sarah Dessen's novels -- they'd be great to recommend to a furture daughter. I had a similar problem with the question at first, because I'm 17 and definitely not thinking about kids quite yet!
ReplyDeleteA room full of books in the house or a library would be amazing. Can't believe I didn't think of that one.
I'm a new follower, glad to have found you :)
Swing by my hop
I'm an old follower, hopping through. A library is a popular answer but that's because we are all book fanatics and need some place to house all of our findings! Like you, I want a library and am working on getting just that! I can't wait. Have an awesome weekend!

New follower! Found you through Follow Friday. I absolutely LOVE your layout. The orange is extremely eye-catching. I think it's very interesting that you can read French! I'm jealous. I wish I could read in a different language. :D

I am listening to a Sarah Dessen audiobook right now. I read so much sf and fantasy, sometimes I neglect other YA... but it's been pointed out to me that Sarah Dessen is a must. I'm listening to The Truth About Forever and really, really enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteAh, a home library... yup, that is pretty fine. It's probably weird to say, but because I work in a library and have access to so many great books all the time... I don't feel the need to hoard them at home! I'm not much of a re-reader either, so once it's read, I'm usually fine to give the books back to the library or, if they're books I've bought, give them away to a friend.
I don't know who wouldn't want a home library ;) Great looking blog, new follower!
ReplyDeletestopping by from the hop!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want a room like that too. Preferably with one of those old rolling ladders :) Wouldn't that be divine?
I know... if you're not in the mindset of thinking about what you'd want for your children, then this weeks was a rather tough questions!
ReplyDeleteI agree that there were books my mother gave me to read that I'd want to pass on as well and hope that she enjoyed!
