He’s cute. He’s famous. And he could ruin everything…

Every member of Seconds to Juliet has a girlfriend—except for Nathan Strong. Now the band’s manager is leaning hard on “The Cute On” to play throne of the band’s heartthrob. With the band’s sales in decline, it’s up to Nathan to keep the fans’ fantasy alive.

The plan is to stay a fake relationship and a fake breakup, and then let the fans fight to be the one to mend Nathan’s broken heart. Just one problem. There’s another girl in the picture—one Nathan can’t stay away from. In private, Nathan’s stealing kisses with the band’s new opening act, Abby Curtis.

If they’re caught, no one wins. Abby will be fired, and the band might not recover the success they need to survive. But even with the pressure mounting, Nathan and Abby can’t stop themselves from stealing one more touch, one more kiss. And it’s only a matter of time before it all falls apart.

Entangled Crush’s Backstage Pass series is pretty much one of my favourite recent series. I mean, it’s a series about the members of a boy band and the girls they fall in love with. It basically has my name written all over it. I’ve loved every book in the series and it was no different with the final one, Erin Butler’s Abby and the Cute One.

Nathan Strong is the last member of Seconds to Juliet to still be single, so it’s on him to keep the dream alive for the fans. And he’s happy to do it if it means helping the band, even when it involves going on horrible fake dates set up by the band’s manager. But when Abby Curtis joins the tour as Seconds to Juliet’s new opening act, Nathan doesn’t really want to do the whole fake relationship anymore. Instead, he would much rather have a real one with Abby. But as much as he might want to, Nathan can’t be with Abby. Being with her would mean losing the band and Abby getting fired. But they can only stay apart for so long. They just have to find a way to be together and not get caught.

In the past year, I have become a huge Seconds to Juliet fan. I’ve been completely charmed by this fictional boy band and I just can’t get enough of their stories. Every one I read just makes me love them more. And as excited as I was about Erin Butler’s Abby and the Cute One, I also didn’t want this series to end. I’m a lover of boy bands to begin with so reading about one just made me happy. These stories were so fun, but they also had more going on than just boy band shenanigans and that’s what made me love them so much. Abby and the Cute One was no different. I’d always had a bit of a soft spot for Nathan from the beginning, so i was really excited to finally get to read his story. And the story didn’t disappoint me in the least. It was just the romance I had hoped for Nathan, and Abby was absolutely the perfect girl for him. Admittedly, I’m sad to see Nathan and all the guys (and girls) from Seconds to Juliet go, but I was happy with how everything turned out for all of them.

I knew pretty much from the moment I first met him in Aimee and the Heartthrob that Nathan was totally going to be my favourite member of Seconds to Juliet. After having now read Abby and the Cute One, I can officially say that Nathan is definitely my favourite. There was just something about him that worked for me, I don’t really know how to explain it. All that say, I just wanted the absolute best for Nathan and I wanted him to be happy. And once I got to know Abby, I wanted the same thing for her. And these two were just so freaking adorable together. I’m no gonna lie, I probably had a goofy smile on my face while I was reading about them. I just couldn’t help it. So it should go without saying that I was absolutely rooting for them. Pretty much from that first moment when they talked by the water after Nathan’s horrible fake date. Nathan and Abby just made me happy and I loved them.

If you hadn’t guessed it, I totally loved Erin Butler’s Abby and the Cute One. In fact, it might just be my favourite book in the series. And considering I’ve loved every book, it’s saying something. If you haven’t yet met Seconds to Juliet, you really should pick up the first book in this series.

Anya and the Shy Guy by Suze Winegardner

It’s always the quiet ones…

Anya Anderson doesn’t just need a big break, she needs any break. Living on the streets doesn’t leave a girl many options, so when she scores a gig reporting on the Seconds to Juliet tour, she jumps at the chance to earn enough money to sleep somewhere safe. And the paycheck will get bigger—and keep her off the streets for good—if she can dig up dirt on Will Fray, the irritatingly hot “shy guy” of the band.

Problem is, Will Fray isn’t who everyone thinks he is. In fact, he’s not Will at all. Matt, Will’s identical twin, is actually the guy onstage, reluctantly covering for his brother while he’s in rehab. To make matters worse, Matt’s being shadowed by a cute reporter with troubled eyes determined to get the scoop. On him. And he’s having trouble finding the willpower to keep his distance…

But it the secret gets out, it won’t just be his head on a platter—it’ll be the whole band’s.

I’m afraid I might start sounding like a broken record (pun semi-intended?) when it comes to the Backstage Pass series. But what can I really say, boy bands and romance are apparently all I need to keep me happy. So Suze Winegardner’s Anya and the Shy Guy? Totally loved it.

Being sent to cover the Seconds to Juliet tour is just the break that Anya needs. If all goes well, this could be her ticket to moving off the streets and finally getting her life back on track. But when she joins up with the tour, things aren’t exactly how Anya thought they would be. Instead of covering the whole band, Anya gets assigned to Will Fray, the shy one in the band. Her task? Uncovering all of this secrets. It shouldn’t be too hard, right? Especially considering Will is hiding a pretty big one. Because Will isn’t Will at all, he’s actually his identical twin brother, Matt, presenting to be Will while the real Will is in rehab. But no one can find out, especially not Anya. If people were to find out the truth about Will and Matt, it would mean the end for their family. But the more time Matt and Anya spend together, the harder it becomes to deny the attraction between them. So what happens when you have to expose the secrets of the one person you don’t want to hurt?

Since May, I’ve pretty much been devouring the Backstage Pass series. I’ve loved getting to know each of the different members of the band and the girls in their lives. I’ve loved reading all these stories about people falling in love with a huge tour as the backdrop. It’s been all been a fun story to read. And what I’ve liked about the story is that each of the books goes a little deeper than just the happy romance and the boy band shenanigans. And it was never more true than it was with Suze Winegardner’s Anya and the Shy Guy. Sure, this story was about the romance between Matt and Anya but it was also about the realities of homelessness, and how it’s often circumstances completely outside of the person’s hands that lead to them ending up on the streets. In the case of Anya, in the book, she didn’t want to be on the streets but her family circumstances made it so she didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter. All that to say that it was nice to see the story go beyond the romance and tackle some issues that you don’t necessarily see portrayed all that much in YA books. But that’s not to say that the romance wasn’t great because it absolutely was.

As I’ve already said, Anya, besides being a reporter, was also a homeless teen and it made for a very interesting character. And it also made it so my heart broke for her on more than one occasion while I was reading Anya and the Shy Guy. This girl had all the good intentions in the world but she just couldn’t seem to catch a break when she absolutely deserved one. So it was great to see her finally get that break with the Seconds to Juliet tour. But as much as she wanted her big break, she struggled with getting it at the expense of Will. Well, Matt’s expense which is also Will’s expense and that’s where things got a little bit tricky. Where all the other books in the series were about actual members of a boy band, it wasn’t the case here. Matt was reluctantly going on stage every night to cover for his brother. So at times it was really amusing to read about him struggling with choreography or with lyrics the other boys believed he wrote. And it definitely made things complicated for his relationship with Anya. But at the end of the day, it all worked itself out, and Matt and Anya were absolutely adorable together.

I really enjoyed getting to read Matt (though it technically should have been Will’s, I guess) and Anya’s story in Suze Winegardner’s Anya and the Shy Guy. I’ve loved getting to know the boys of Seconds to Juliet and I can’t wait to read all about Nathan in Erin Butler’s Abby and the Cute One.

Daisy and the Front Man by Rebekah L. Purdy

Hell hath no fury like a fangirl scorned…

When Daisy Morris finds out she’s spending the summer with her dad, bodyguard for Seconds to Juliet—the hottest boy band around—she knows it couldn’t be more perfect. Not because she’s a fan. Oh, no. Because ever since front man Trevin Jacobs completely humiliated her by standing her up for homecoming, Daisy is out for a little revenge. Yup, Trevin Jacobs is goin’ down…

When one of his bandmates bets Trevin he can’t make Daisy—the gorgeous but surprisingly ice-cold daughter of their bodyguard—fall in love with him, it’s a bet he can’t resist. Sure, Daisy won’t give him the time of day for reasons he can’t understand, and her dad’s hell-bent against his little girl spending time with a superstar. But the terms are set, and Trevin is determined to make Daisy fall…hard.

But every front man should know never to trust a girl with a pretty face…

Boy bands and romance. Do I really need to say more to explain why I’ve been totally loving the Backstage Pass series? Every book I’ve read in the series I’ve loved and it was no different with Rebekah L. Purdy’s Daisy and the Front Man.

Last fall, Daisy Morris was completely humiliated after her favourite member of Seconds to Juliet, the hottest boy band, stood her up for homecoming. Instead of the best night of her life, all she got was a typed up generic letter and a signed headshot. Now, Daisy is getting ready to spend the summer with her absentee father…who just happens to be Seconds to Juliet’s bodyguard. And Daisy is determined to make Trevin Jacobs pay for what he did. As a member of Seconds to Juliet, Trevin is used to having girls fawning over him everywhere he goes. But his bodyguard’s daughter won’t even give him the time of day. So when one of his bandmates proposes a bet, suggesting that he can’t make Daisy fall involve with him by the end of summer, Trevin steps up to the challenge. But what starts out as a bet and a revenge mission, quickly starts to feel like something that can actually be real.

Boy bands are definitely among my weaknesses. And when you combine them with romance, I’m pretty much powerless. Which is why I’ve totally been loving Entangled Crush’s Backstage Pass series. And there’s also the added fun that each of the books in the series was written by a different author so it keeps things interesting. Which brings me to the latest book in the series, Rebekah L. Purdy’s Daisy and the Front Man. Much like the previous books in this series, Daisy and the Front Man was just fun to read. Whether it was the revenge plot, the bet between the boys or the romance, I was highly entertained the whole time I was reading. All that set against the backdrop of a music tour just makes it that much more fun. But at the same time, one of the things that this whole series, including Daisy and the Front Man, has shown is that there’s often a whole lot more going on behind the scenes than what the public knows. Sure, we can guess that it’s not all good times, but I always find it interesting to read books that show just how much more is going on. And this one definitely did that, showing how much of the characters lives get messed with by all the different people involved in the tour that are trying to get something from them.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about Daisy for a good chunk of the book. Every so often, I would hit a point where I would question why she was holding on so much to her grudge against Trevor. I could understand that she was embarrassed in front of everyone in her small town when he didn’t show up to take her to her Homecoming dance. But at the same time, it felt like some of her feelings towards him were a little extreme, even if sometimes I totally understood where she was coming from. So my feelings where Daisy was concerned were in a constant state of change. Until I started really liking her and then it was all good. And that probably had to do with how adorable she and Trevin were together, even if neither of them initially planned on anything real happening between them. And Trevin wasn’t entirely who I expected. I mean, yeah, I expected a certain amount of arrogance considering the guy is in a highly popular boy band, but there was so much more to him than that. I loved seeing his relationship with his family, and I wish I could have seen more of that because those moments were fantastic. But aside from that, I really enjoyed Trevin as a character, and as I’ve already said, him and Daisy were basically prefect for each other.

Rebekah L. Purday’s Daisy and the Front Man was a great addition to the Backstage Pass series. I really enjoyed reading all about the band’s front man and big brother, and I can’t wait to find out more about the two remaining members of the band.
