The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted each week by Jennifer of Crazy-for-Books. Every week I've met new bloggers who came to visit me and found some pretty awesome blogs that I now visit regularly.
This week's question:
DO YOU USE A RATING SYSTEM FOR YOUR REVIEWS AND IF SO, WHAT IS IT AND WHY?
I actually don't use a rating system since I find they can sometimes be misleading. Personally, I just like giving my opinion and letting people make their decisions based on that. I guess ratings are really subjective and in the long run it get be hard to know what they mean, for the simple reason that a perfect score may not mean the same thing to different people. So yeah, all that to say that I don't use a rating system for my reviews but I don't have anything against them in theory.
Happy hopping and enjoy your weekend!
Hi! Just hopping by to say hi! I really like your answer this week, especially the part about letting people make their own decision. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteJust hoping through from the blog hop. I understand what you mean about rating systems. I use one so people can decide quickly if it's a book they want before they read my opinion on it.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!

Hi Emilie, I feel pretty much the same as you do about rating books. I don't rate my reviews but you'll understand how I feel about it and you can make up your own mind.
ReplyDeleteThat is true that ratings are very subjective. Good point! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about them being subjective. I always flip back and forth as to whether or not I should keep mine. Thanks for your honest opinion : )
ReplyDeleteHey there! Just hopping by! If you have a chance, stop by The Wormhole and check out my 300 follower giveaway! Happy reading – have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteCome see what my rating system is. The only difference is that I only post the ratings at the end of the month, not on the individual reviews.
ReplyDeleteHere for the Hop! I do not use a rating system. No two books are alike, unless they have the same author.

I also agree with your opinions about reviews. The field just seems so subjective to put a number value on an opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm also reading Iron King. I'm about half way finished. I look forward reading your review.
I'm a new follower. Have a good weekend.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I actually use a rating system because they are subjective. Everything about a review and someone's opinion about a book is subjective, so my ratings are an easy way to see what I thought. Although, I do agree that the 'star' ratings can often be misleading. A 5 star to Harry Potter does not mean the same thing as a 5 star to To Kill a Mockingbird. Very different levels there. That's why I use words/phrases. I think it's a little bit... clearer.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a new follower stopping by for the Hop. I look forward to visiting again and reading more of your reviews.
ReplyDeleteHope you will stop by my blog An Avid Reader's Musings.
