Book Blogger Hop (8)

Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly event hosted each week by Jennifer of Crazy-for-Books. Every week I've met new bloggers who came to visit me and found some pretty awesome blogs that I now visit regularly.

This week's question:

DO YOU USE A RATING SYSTEM FOR YOUR REVIEWS AND IF SO, WHAT IS IT AND WHY?

I actually don't use a rating system since I find they can sometimes be misleading. Personally, I just like giving my opinion and letting people make their decisions based on that. I guess ratings are really subjective and in the long run it get be hard to know what they mean, for the simple reason that a perfect score may not mean the same thing to different people. So yeah, all that to say that I don't use a rating system for my reviews but I don't have anything against them in theory.

Happy hopping and enjoy your weekend!

  2. Just hoping through from the blog hop. I understand what you mean about rating systems. I use one so people can decide quickly if it's a book they want before they read my opinion on it.

    Happy reading!

  5. Hi Emilie, I feel pretty much the same as you do about rating books. I don't rate my reviews but you'll understand how I feel about it and you can make up your own mind.

  9. Come see what my rating system is. The only difference is that I only post the ratings at the end of the month, not on the individual reviews.

  10. Here for the Hop! I do not use a rating system. No two books are alike, unless they have the same author.

  13. I also agree with your opinions about reviews. The field just seems so subjective to put a number value on an opinion.

I'm also reading Iron King. I'm about half way finished. I look forward reading your review.

I'm a new follower. Have a good weekend.

  15. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I actually use a rating system because they are subjective. Everything about a review and someone's opinion about a book is subjective, so my ratings are an easy way to see what I thought. Although, I do agree that the 'star' ratings can often be misleading. A 5 star to Harry Potter does not mean the same thing as a 5 star to To Kill a Mockingbird. Very different levels there. That's why I use words/phrases. I think it's a little bit... clearer.
