Top Ten Tuesday: Books People Have Told Me I MUST Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish in which bloggers post their "Top Ten" list of books based on that week's theme. This week's theme:

TOP TEN BOOKS PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME I MUST READ
(or, Here are all the books I own that I haven't read yet because I fail at reading books that I know/people tell me I will really like)

I don't normally participate in Top Ten Tuesday but this week's topic came right at the same time as I had Ciara and Jess, two of my awesome blogger friends, over at my house this past weekend. While looking at my bookshelves, because that's what book friends do, they started telling me which books I owned that I had to read. So here are 10 of the books they pointed out.

1 & 2 - Jellicoe Road and Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta - This is the part where I tell the world that I haven't read a single Melina Marchetta book. Ever. *Goes to hide in a corner* Now that that's out of the way, I have been yelled at plenty by Ciara for not having read either of these books despite owning them (this will be a recurring theme for this list).

3 - We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han - I fail at finishing series. Like, this is a MAJOR problem for me. I can't even begin to count how many series I've started but haven't finished. In this case, I loved the first two books in Jenny Han's Summer trilogy I just can't bring myself to read the last one. Maybe it's because I was quite happy with the ending of the second book love triangle-wise so I'm afraid of what might happen.

4 - Where She Went by Gayle Forman - Yeah, so I haven't read Where She Went yet. I've read If I Stay and I loved it. I've been told by so many people that Where She Went is even better and even more emotional. Seeing the If I Stay movie this week may just be the motivation I need to finally read Where She Went.

5 - Looking for Alaska by John Green - I've only read two John Green books: Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars. But Looking for Alaska is the one that everyone (aka Ciara) has been telling me that I need to read. But I'm afraid of all the feelings that could possibly come from reading this book.

6 - The rest of the Soul Screamers series (Specifically books 4, 5, 6 and 7) by Rachel Vincent - A year or two ago I started reading the Soul Screamers series, but I only got as far as book 3. According to some people, I need to remedy that fact.

7 - Starling by Fiona Paul - This is another case of my inability to finish series in a timely manner. Though admittedly, Starling came out this year, so this isn't too outstanding. But I loved the first two books. And Jess has been telling me that I will love the conclusion. So I really need to get on that.

8 - Midnight Frost (and by extension, Killer Frost) by Jennifer Estep - In my opinion, the Mythos Academy series is one of the most underrated YA series out there. I've loved every book I've read in this series but I can't bring myself to read the last two books in the series. That and, as I've already established, I suck at finishing series.

9 - The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater - It took me a while to get around to reading The Raven Boys so I'm not entirely surprised that I haven't read The Dream Thieves yet. And Ciara (anyone seeing a trend yet?) has borderline yelled at me for not having read it yet.

10 - Origin (and by extension, Opposition) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - You would think that after the end of Opal I would have been dying to read Origin. And I was. But then life got in the way. And so for the past year Ciara and Katie have been asking me if I've read it yet. And now that Opposition is out, they're nagging me even more. But in a good way.

So these are ten of the books people have been telling me I need to read. Believe me when I say that there are A LOT more sitting on my bookshelves. For now, let me know in the comments which one form this list you think I should read first!

Top Ten Tuesday: Fall 2013 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is Top Ten Books on my fall TBR list.

I will preface this post by saying that some of these books have already been published, others are books that will be published at some point in the next few months. Regardless of if the book has been published or not, I am looking forward to reading all of these in the coming months.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth - There is a strong likelihood that Allegiant is on just about everyone's list and I totally understand why. After everything that went down in Insurgent, I can't wait to see how it will all come together. Plus we get Four's point of view.

Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes - I found myself liking Falling Kingdoms last year so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. I've had an ARC of Rebel Spring sitting on my bookshelf for a few months and now that the release date is getting closer, I have the perfect excuse to read it.

The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead - Richelle Mead. Adrian Ivashkov. Enough said.

Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano - The premise of Perfect Ruin is that it takes place in a utopian world. And it's written by Lauren DeStefano. That's pretty much all I need to know in order to know I will want to read this book.

Crash Into You by Katie McGarry - My heart broke a little in Dare You To with what happened to Isaiah so I can't wait to finally read his story in Crash Into You. Plus, as far as I'm concerned, Katie McGarry can do no wrong.

How to Love by Katie Cotugno - I was lucky enough to get an ARC of How to Love while at BEA and I proceeded to read it on the bus ride back from NYC. But it's one of those books that I really, desperately want to reread. So since it's coming out soon, I'll most likely be doing just that.

The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White - So far I have loved everything I have read by Kiersten WHite. And now she writes a book about mythology? Count me in.

Resist by Sarah Crossan - I loved Breathe. I want to know what happens next (though I may need a refresher between now and then). And that's all that really needs to be said about Resist.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black - Vampires and Holly Black. Do I really need to explain this any further?

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater - I only just recently read The Raven Boys but the moment I finished, I wanted the sequel. And now I have it. So you can bet I'll be reading The Dream Thieves and Ronan's story quite soon.

What books are on your fall TBR list?

Top Ten Tuesday

I've decided once again to participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week's Top Ten is all about Fictional Crushes, which shouldn't be too hard to do. So here are my Top Ten Fictional Crushes (in no particular order):

Jace from The Mortal Instruments
Do I even need to explain this one? It's Jace, just that should be enough of a reason. I love Jace with all my heart and will always root for him no matter what. Too bad he isn't a real person. Team Jace all the way!

Dimitri from The Vampire Academy
Um, hello it's Dimitri. Even when things don't exactly turn out the way I want them to, I still can't help but love Dimitri. I'll admit, in some parts of the book I totally wouldn't mind changing places with Rose.

Sonny from Wondrous Strange
Sonny is such a great character and such a great guy. I couldn't believe what Kelley did at the end of Darklight, I honestly wanted to hit her. I cannot wait to be with Sonny again once I get my hands on a copy of Tempestuous.

Will from The Infernal Devices
I have yet to decide what team I am on for these books but I still love Will. Again probably comes from by tendency to always fall for the bad boy, which Will totally is. As much as sometimes I just want to smack him across his pretty face, the rest of the time I spend wishing he actually existed.

Jem from The Infernal Devices
Like I said, I haven't picked what team I am on yet. I pretty much love Jem just as much as I love Will. He just seems like such a kind, affectionate and sweet guy that you just can't help but fall for. He has so many great qualities and again I wish he actually existed. I can always dream.

The Fuentes Brothers from Perfect Chemistry
So I'm kind of cheating on this one but I absolutely love the Fuentes brothers. As infuriating as they can sometimes be, I still can't help but love them. Even though they always start out all wrong, they always end up like the kind of guy every girl dreams about.

Wes from The Truth About Forever
Wes was probably my first ever fictional crush. I read this book for the first time so many years ago and right away I fell for Wes, there was absolutely no way I could do anything other than that. He was my original fictional crush and years later I still love him.

Damon from The Vampire Diaries
Again I fall for the bad guy. But there's just something about Damon I just can't help but love. Every so often he'll show a softer side of his personality and I just hope that over time he will somehow become the guy I know he can be. (I will also be defending Team Damon in Amber of Down the Rabbit Hole's YA Love Triangle Week)

Ethan from The Caster Chronicles
Ethan is pretty much the ultimate good guy. I was only a few pages into Beautiful Creatures and he had me. Lena is a very lucky girl as far as I'm concerned. I wish I had a guy like that who would pretty much refuse to give up on me no matter what.

Ash from The Iron Fey
I was on the fence about Ash until I finished reading The Iron Daughter this weekend. Now I am completely sold on Team Ash. I don't want to give anything away but if you don't love Ash by the end of that book your are completely crazy, as far as I'm concerned anyway.

So that's it for my Top Ten Fictional Crushes. There are so many other guys that could have made the list, choosing just ten can be so difficult. Especially since I fall for fictional bad guys so easily.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish each week. This week's Top Ten is about favorite authors which shouldn't be too difficult. So here are my Top Ten Favorite Authors (in no particular order):

Sarah Dessen
I have read every single one of her books and I go out to the bookstore to buy her new books pretty much the day they come out. She is an amazing writer and her stories are simply amazing to get lost in.

Meg Cabot
I had always loved reading but Meg Cabot's books are probably the ones who really got me addicted. Her books are always fun to read and her stories are always quite entertaining. I've read all of her Young Adult titles and most of her adult titles.

J.K. Rowling
She wrote Harry Potter, enough said. I don't want to call anyone stupid but if you don't get it, well yeah...

Simone Elkeles
She's a recent favorite but her books are just so great and I absolutely love reading them and always want more.

Richelle Mead
Also a recent favorite and beyond the words VAMPIRE ACADEMY I don't think I need to say much more.

Cassandra Clare
Do I really need to explain? She wrote The Mortal Instruments and now Clockwork Angel that should be enough.

Suzanne Collins
She wrote The Hunger Games books which are some of the best books ever. I hope she writes more books so I can keep loving her stories.

Margaret Stohl & Kami Garcia
Beautiful Creatures was amazing, their writing and story-telling abilities are amazing and I want Beautiful Darkness...NOW!

Alyson Noël
I love her Immortal series (granted those are the only books of her's that I've read) and I get wait to get next book in the series.

L.J. Smith
She wrote The Vampire Diaries for crying out loud. I love the original 3/4 books and the two new ones aren't bad, just different. Her other books are also great and I love reading anything that she wrote.

Top Ten Tuesday

I have been thinking about doing Top Ten Tuesday for a while, but the topics each week never really appealed to me...until this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten has to do with our favorite fictional couples in books. So here is my list, in no particular order.

Clary and Jace from the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
I absolutely love Clary and Jace. They have already gone through so much and they just deserve to actually be together and be happy. But knowing how the books tend to go, Cassandra Clare probably has something in store for them that will make me want to throw my book against the wall...and then continue reading to see if it all gets solved.

Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
So I was Team Peeta the whole way so how Mockingjay ended made me really happy (even if I wasn't completely satisfied with how they got to where they ended up). They just went through so much and to finally see them be happy together just made me really happy.

Rose and Dimitri from the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I am pretty much in love with Dimitri myself but I'll let Rose have him. I absolutely love this couple. They finally decide to be together and something goes wrong and now I'm just hoping that they will find a way to be together that will bring them back to how they were.

Kelley and Sonny from Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston
Kelley and Sonny are just amazing. I love how their relationship and really hope everything works out for them, despite some of the things Kelley said to Sonny at the end of Darklight. I just have to wait until December to see if what I want to happen to them ends up happening.

Sam and Grace from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
I haven't read Linger yet (it's next in my TBR pile) so this is just based on Shiver but I love Sam and Grace. I don't know what happens to them after Shiver but I just hope they are able to stay together.

Harry and Ginny from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Do I even need to explain? It's Harry and Ginny as far as I'm concerned that's explanation enough.

Hermione and Ron from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I waited for the longest time for this to finally happen and when it did I was the happiest reader on the planet. Beyond that just see the explanation for Harry and Ginny and apply it here too.

Lena and Ethan from Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
I love Ethan and Lena. I don't really know why, I just do. I can't wait to see what happens next to them.

Brittany and Alex from Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
This could honestly have been any couple from Simone Elkeles's books. I chose Brittany and Alex because they're the ones that got to me first. I'll be honest I sometimes wished I was Brittany.

Macy and Wes from The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
This could also have been any of Sarah Dessen's couples but Macy and Wes are just special to me and I absolutely love them.

The list could obviously have been a lot longer but these are my Top Ten. I'm sure in about 30 minutes I'll have thought of a bunch of others that could have made the list but these are it for now.
