Title: Opal (Lux #3)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Release Date: December 11, 2012
Source: Purchased
Buy the Book: Amazon / Book Depository
No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I'll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well…There's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I'm no longer the same Katy. I'm different…And i'm not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the party of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we're stronger…and they know it.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that I have come to absolutely love Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series. With every book, it just feels like the story keeps getting more and more intense and exciting and it was no different with Opal. And in this case, it also broke my heart.

Katy is no longer the same person she was when she first moved to West Virginia and met Daemon Black. And that's both literally and figuratively. Because Daemon changed her completely. And despite everything on their plate, Daemon is determined to prove just how much he cares about Katy. And that means lots of chances to unintentionally exposing themselves. But Dawson might be the one to get them all in trouble because he will stop at nothing to get Beth back. But soon Katy and Daemon realize that they are stronger together and they are ready to take down their organization responsible for hurting so many Luxen and hybrids.

This book. Oh this book. So many emotions while reading and I will apologize in advance for the potential incoherence to come. Jennifer L. Armentrout takes everything to a whole new level in Opal. The romance that she has come to be known for is still there, but things between Katy and Daemon have definitely heated up. But that's not the only thing to get more intense. The story itself took me on a crazy ride, and I just didn't want to leave the story. There was so much more going on then ever before. And that ending officially broke me. Just thinking about those last few pages makes me tear up. Because while I may have seen that ending coming, I still didn't want to believe it would come to that. I even kept flipping pages in the hope that it wasn't actually the end.

Katy has made me smile since book one. Whenever I read about her geeky gout over books I can't help but smile and nod along because I have totally been there. So I can relate to her when it comes to that. Having a hot alien boyfriend on the other hand I can't exactly relate to. But I still love the side of her that comes out whenever Daemon is around. And that leads me to Daemon. Despite the fact that for the better part of three books Daemon Black has been a compete ass, I can't help but love him. In Opal Daemon completely redeems himself in my eyes. And he's definitely one of the reasons this book has left me broken. Because Daemon was exactly who I wanted him to be. Dawson was a fantastic addition to the story. He was a bit of a mystery for a good deal of the book, but getting to know him again made the story that much more interesting.

Though it completely broke me, Opal was a fantastic read. Once again, Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote a book I just can't seem to put down once I start reading. But she has also left me absolutely begging for Origin. And I'm sure once you read Opal you will find yourself I the same position.

Cover Reveal: Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Today I have the honor of taking part in the cover reveal for Opal, the third book in Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series. As some of you may know, I am a huge fan of this series and simply cannot get enough of the books. And let me just say the cover for this third installment is simply amazing. So without further ado...

When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become de deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we're stronger…and they know it.
Isn't the cover absolutely gorgeous? I feel like the covers for this series just keep getting better and better. Be sure to add the book to your Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

And to celebrate the reveal of the cover, Jennifer L. Armentrout has some special stuff going on on her blog.

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Obsidian (Lux #2)

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I'm a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows that's happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I've see someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them--from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Ever since reading the last page of Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout I have been dying to read Onyx. So when the copy I had on pre-order arrived I couldn't help but start reading it right away. And boy did it deliver. If anything, Onyx was even better than Obsidian. And it was also way hotter.

Katy never thought moving to West Virginia was going to be as crazy as it turned out to be. It doesn't help that her next door neighbors are aliens and that she has been marked by one of them. Because of that, Katy now has to spend all her time with Daemon Black. Which shouldn't be so bad considering how hot Daemon is. But he's also really infuriating and has the ability to really get under Katy's skin. But now Katy has more to worry about than just being attacked by Daemon's enemies, the Arum. Because the Department of Defense has shown up in town and if they find out about Daemon and the other Luxen's abilities, things might get dangerous for everyone involved.

So, um, yeah. About Onyx. Be sure to have a lot of time on your hands when you start reading this book because you will not want to put it down. Unfortunately for me, I made the mistake of picking up Onyx when I only had a few minutes to read and then I kept on wanting to go back to reading it even though I couldn't. What I especially liked about Onyx was that the action started straight off the bat. There was no waiting for something to happen. And as you may have guessed, that action took on many forms. If you thought Obsidian was hot, it was nothing compared to Onyx. Jennifer L. Armentrout really knows how to write those sexy scenes…and how to leave you begging for more once they are over. The story itself was also quite intense. There was a whole lot more happening in Onyx and it kept me turning the pages as quickly as I possibly could. And then I got to the end, and as soon as I read the last word I started wishing I had Opal  already.

Once again, I absolutely loved that Katy is a book blogger. All the references she made to books and blogging just put a smile on my face and it allowed me to relate to her that much more. Though I can't really say I relate to falling in love with my alien neighbor. Beyond her being a blogger, I love Katy for her determination and her stubbornness, granted the latter has a tendency to get her in tricky situations. And those tricky situations usually tend to involve Daemon in some way. Though because they were tricky, that isn't to say the situations weren't fun. But Daemon. I loved that I got to get in his head a little more. I know why he's doing the things he's doing and even when he's being an ass, it's usually for the right reasons. And the more I saw of Daemon, no matter how infuriating he was, the more I liked him. Because let's admit, he's pretty hard to resist. And Blake had nothing on him.

Onyx was an absolutely thrilling read. With every page I turned, I just kept on wanting more and when it was all over I was practically begging for Opal, the next book. Over the past year, Jennifer L. Armentrout has made a name for herself in YA and books like Onyx only serve to show why her writing has become so popular.

Really excited.

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States! You heard right. During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we'll be giving away signed posters, photos and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on.

And to top things off (as if this isn't enough, but we don't do anything small), there's something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahamas.

I am not kidding.

This will be epic.

Are you excited? I am! This tour is going to be so, so much fun, and I'm so thrilled that Pepe and Sztella are a part of it. We owe them a huge thank you and a giant welcome making the 16 hour flight to meet the readers of the Lux Series. you!

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…until I spotted my hot neighbour, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

When I read Half-Blood late last year I absolutely loved it and knew I had to read more of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books, so I proceeded to order a copy of Obsidian. When it showed up, I started reading it right away, and once again saw what all the fuss was about. But I will admit that while I really enjoyed Obsidian, I still liked Half-Blood better.

Katy was not happy about having to move to West Virginia with her mother. But things started to look up a little when she discovered she had a hot next door neighbour. Except that it turns out that Daemon is a complete jerk. But in spite of all that, Katy can't help but be a little attracted to Daemon, though all they do is fight and argue. And then things take a turn for the worse. In an effort to save Katy's life, Daemon sues his alien powers to stop a moving truck, and ends up marking Katy. Now Katy can't leave Daemon's side until the mark fades, because doing so could mean death. But spending so much time with Daemon might just mean death, just not necessarily for Katy.

The stories Jennifer L. Armentrout writes are definitely addicting. Every time I pick up one of her books I find myself unable to put it down and getting totally engrossed in the story. I just end up having this undeniable need to know what happens next and it was no different with Obsidian. It definitely didn't take too long for me to basically fall in love with this story. My only issue with it was that it took a while for the action to start happening. But once it did, it didn't really stop. And while the ending wasn't a cliffhanger, it definitely left me wanting more.

I absolutely loved that Katy was a book blogger. Every time she made a reference to blogging I couldn't help but smile because I could totally relate. But beside that, she was still a great character. What I loved best about her was how she had a mind of her own and had a tendency towards stubbornness. And I loved that it wasn't instant love between her and Daemon. It was more like she wanted to bite his head off. And Daemon himself is kind of hard to describe. The words "hot alien" come to mind but there is more to him than just that. Yes, he can be a major jerk, but then there are moments when he sort of shows a softer side. And that's a side of him I wan to see more of.

Obsidian was more than a great read. I absolutely loved reading it. I was very happy to be able to read more of Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing. And now I am waiting impatiently waiting to be able to get my hands on Onyx, the next book in this series.
